What diversity, equity & inclusion means to Floxsie
At Floxsie, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are only words until our actions give them meaning. The purpose of this committee is to put DEI at the core of everything we do, not just today, but everyday, for as long as it takes for the world to accept this model of fairness. The following statements are what we commit to adhering to as we move forward:
Diversity Statement
Floxsie endorses a zero-tolerance policy in our making community towards any and all types of discrimination. We will demonstrate respect, tolerance and acceptance for human differences, social identities, and social group differences, fostering and promoting unity among those of any race, ethnicity, creed, color, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual identity, socio-economic status, culture, national origin, religion/spirituality, age, dis(ability), and military/veteran status, political perspective, and associational preferences.
Equity Statement
Floxsie adheres to fair and just practices and policies that ensure all participants, vendors, makers and presenters are in an environment that offers equitable treatment, access, opportunity, and engagement for all. Equal treatment can only be the outcome when everyone starts with equal access to opportunities. Because not everyone's experiences are the same, we strive to address structural inequalities - historic and current - that advantage some and disadvantage others.
Inclusion Statement
Floxsie strives to create experiences where all makers feel respected, have a sense of belonging, and are able to participate and contribute to their potential. Ours is a space that respects and values all perspectives. We are committed to ensuring that persons within historically underrepresented groups are included and are represented. We know it is possible to be diverse and non-inclusive at the same time, thus a sustained practice of creating and recreating inclusive environments is essential for success.
