Hi! My name is Valerie and I see the world through a yarn-lovers lens. There is A LOT of engineering and hard science required to knit a sock. And it’s a functional garment. And it’s a piece of wearable art. We create something from nothing – sticks and flimsy string– and that is mysterious. Some people would even call that magic. I like the place between science and magic.

I am a teacher. I teach crochet and knitting. I’m a process maker – that means I get double the joy out of every project. The joy of making and the joy of wearing. I absolutely wear what I make, especially when it’s cold out. Right now, I live in Maryland, and you might see me around or at a fiber festival.
