Speaker Bio
My name is Tanya Singer, and I am a media industry veteran with a passion for knitting. I am the Director of Strategy and Partnerships at Tablet Magazine, where I focus on our podcasts including the world’s leading Jewish podcast, Unorthodox. I am also a Contributor to Modern Daily Knitting (MDK), Kveller and The Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA). I research, write and speak about Knitting and the Holocaust, with more information on Knitting Hope.

I served on the Board of Green Bronx Machine, a non-profit organization with a school-based classroom gardening program for under-served students, where I first taught knitting to children.

When I’m not working, I run Ewe Can Knit, a knitting lesson business in Westchester County, NY, where I teach adults and children to knit. I also teach adult knitters how to teach children to knit at Vogue Knitting Live and Knit + Escape.

Before I became immersed in the world of knitting, I had a long career in digital media. I was general manager of Bloomberg Politics where I led a cross-functional team across Bloomberg Media’s television, digital, and events platforms through the 2016 General Election. I worked at Yahoo! and was an executive director of Real Simple’s digital business at Time, Inc. I hold a BA with honors from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., where my “Little Sister” was the first person to teach me to knit. I picked up her needles again to help me through my son’s (successful) brain surgery in 2017. From that day on, I haven’t stopped knitting.
